As time goes by, I find myself valuing good communication more and more. This means being able to explain ideas clearly, give specific and useful directions, and adapt the message to the person in front of you.

In the studio, communication goes far beyond technical knowledge. Sometimes, the difference between an average take and a great one comes down to a few well-chosen words.

What I value most is the ability to say exactly what is needed to maintain the mood of a session, keep the creative energy flowing, and help the musician feel confident, motivated, and focused. When that happens, people tend to perform at their best, and the recording process becomes not only more productive, but also more enjoyable for everyone involved.
